Stop 1: Thingvellir National Park
Our first stop is Thingvellir National Park. It is a UNESCO world heritage site and the most significant place regarding Icelandic history. The name Thingvellir in Icelandic means “Parliament Fields”.
The general assembly, the Althing was established here in 930 AD making it one of the oldest parliaments in the world. Thingvellir is also known for its geology and has been a protected area since 1928.
Thingvellir is amongst the very few places on Earth where you can observe a continental drift valley between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates.
Stop 2: Geyser Hot Spring
Our next stop is the famous Geysir hot spring area. It is located in the geothermally active valley Haukadalur. Today the most active is Strokkur, an energetic spouting hot spring, which goes up every 5 minutes or so.
The white column of boiling water forms a beautiful half bubble before it goes up as a super-heated steaming water. It can reach the height of 15-30 m (60-90 feet). Strokkur (the churn) was formed in an earthquake in the year of 1789.
Other interesting hot springs are Blesi and Fata, the former are two large basins separated by the ”blaze” but connected to it is Fata. We also have Konungshver named after King Christian IX king from Denmark.
Stop 3: Gullfoss waterfall
Our next stop is Gullfoss waterfall, one of the most popular tourist attractions in Iceland. It runs down the river Hvítá into beautiful curved three step “staircase”!
It is a very powerful experience to walk close to the waterfall on the west side as on average we have 140 cubic meters per second (80 in winter) falling down the staircases.
When you arrive at Gullfoss parking area, the edge can’t be seen, so it appears as the earth is simply absorbing the waterfall.
Stop 4: Floating in Secret Lagoon
Our next stop is in the Secret Lagoon at Fludir. It is a unique natural hot spring and the oldest swimming pool in Iceland (made in 1891). Its temperature is perfect and the water holds at 38-40 Celsius (100-104 Fahrenheit) all year around.
You will be provided with a unique floating kit (for head and legs) to enjoy floating in a natural pool while listening to relaxing music on our underwater speaker and enjoying a 10-15 minute in-water massage.
When done floating you will boil eggs in Vadmalshver – a natural hot spring – using fishing rods and taste our geothermal baked rye bread, local tomatoes and cucumbers from nearby green houses, Brennivin (Icelandic black-death snaps!) and fermented shark.
Stop 5: Sleeping in a bubble
Our last visit will be at a bubble for a night stay. All the bubbles have a transparent upper half or are fully transparent, so if the aurora is dancing you will have a private show.
At the moment there is only one bubble location. It is in a secret forest close to Reykholt. You can see a walk through video here.
You can learn more about what type these bubbles are on the front page. We will pick you up from the bubble in the morning around 8:30 – 9:00am, go to a breakfast place (not included in price) and then drive to Reykjavik.
Guided (english) tour on Suburban luxury jeep or similar. Max 6 person per tour. Entry ticket to Secret Lagoon. Floating cap and support for legs. Tasting Rye Bread made by us. Boiling your own egg in Vadmalshver hot spring, Shark and Black Death tasting, 10-15 min in-water massage in the Secret Lagoon, one night in a bubble and free pickup & drop off in Reykjavik. Breakfast and dinner not included in price.
Price is ISK 59.900 per person. Here is a link to a currency converter.
We have one secret bubble location at the moment. At the moment we are only selling tour based on availability of the bubbles in the forest. We will add more availability as soon as we have finish setting up more bubbles (hopefully in Dec).
TYPE OF BUBBLE
We have two types of bubbles. We have three bubbles (Asta, Thorunn and Una) that are kept inflated by a slight over-pressure from an external air pump system and we then have two bubbles (Maria and Valdis) with diameter of 3.0m that have aluminium structure. Inside these have a round bed of 2.4 m. Both types are heated. Both types of bubble fit for 2 adults.
MIN NR OF PASSENGERS
We have a minimum number of 4 adults for the tour to go. You can book below for 2 adults but if the minimum number of 4 will not be reached one week before departure date, we will cancel the tour and refund the money 100% back to your credit card.
Availability of this tour is primarily based on the availability of the bubbles. They have been very popular so we have very few tours in the year 2016. We are having more tours in 2017 and hopefully soon we will have more bubbles so there will be more tours every week.
